Why Can't Shan-Yu recognize which soldier caused the avalanche that wiped out most of his army?

Shan-Yu: *hits Li Shang* YOU COST ME MY VICTORY.
Mulan: *throws shoe at Shan-Yu's head* No! I did. *pulls up hair into top knot.*
Shan-Yu: o_o The soldier from the mountains....

I've always wondered why Shan-Yu confused boy-Mulan with Shang...Shang has muscular, rather manly features for a character that basically looks like his voice actor (B.D. Wong), while Mulan is small and feminine. So why was Shan-Yu beating the cr*p out of Shang for allegedly causing the avalanche?

Shan-Yu is a Hun, and Huns are actually terrorizers of Europe. Huns are European, aka Caucasian, aka white. White people can't tell Asians apart. Makes sense now.

The Huns have been linked to the Xiongnu nomadic tribe of China/Mongolia, which is how Disney can credibly make the cruel, kind of inhuman villain a Hun and still be historically accurate.
