To Be Magna Cum Laude

Current GPA: 3.53
Current Credit Hours: 16
Target GPA: 3.70 or 3.90
Additional Credits: 64

GPA I must have in order to get this: 3.83
Omygod this is so bad.  I want at least a magna cum laude, and a summa cum laude would be nice, but I need a 4.0 for the rest of my academic semesters (each of them) if I'm to do that.  Omygod.
What am I going to do?!

And if you ask "Why do you want to be magna cum laude?"
Well, I just kinda do.  It's kind of a self-validation.  All through high school, I just sucked at life, getting B-/C+ averages.  That's unacceptable now that I've had a taste of what it means to be a 3.5 gpa.  I'm hoping to get a 3.75 this semester, which will raise me up to a 3.59....And what's this importance put on GPA's all of a sudden?
Two words for you: grad school.  I want to go to business school (UCBerkeley Haas School of Business?!?), and besides the GMAT, they also take a super close look at my GPA.  CRAAAAP.  I feel like I need to at the very least be magna cum laude to even dream of going there.  Ok it's time to kick my butt into gear and get some A's!!!

Let's get some A's!!!

Suddenly....Extracurriculars...

This semester....I've taken up the mantle on several extracurriculars:
  • being a writer for Bamboo Offshoot, a USC Asian Pacific American magazine
  • getting involved in a Youtube news channel that sets the sh*t right about the US to International Chinese students.  Ye-yuhhh.
  • Forming my own organization that promotes a network of APAs who want to perform but don't necessarily have the means to come together and meet people with the same interests.  I know you're out there and I'm gonna find you all.
  • NSCS, aka National Society of Collegiate Scholars!! (Well I was already involved with this but we aren't meeting until this semester...for some reason).
Holy smokes! I hope this doesn't affect my grades....if it does I'm quitting one of these shizzes.

I'm a Machiavellian Realist

I've been sick since the first day of second semester classes, which started last monday (1/10/11).  I've got some silly sinus infection thing going on and my face hurts like someone is twisting it.

Operation Geek Babe is slow-going, especially since I feel like my eyes are going to pop out from their sockets.  But in happy news, someone gave me free popcorn lobster today because I was wearing my super comfortable "Crushing the Rebellion Like a Boss" t-shirt.  Star Wars fans of the world unite!

First Day of Classes Spring 2011

First day of classes and I have 2 books.  Out of more than 15.  WHOOPS.

Let's see how this goes...

The First Amendment of 2011

Nobody ever notices leprechaun Yoda in the background.
As acting chairwoman of my own life, I hereby decree that I just rejected someone and sort of maybe explained why I never reciprocated intimacy.  Yesterday.

Only 5 days into the new year, too.  See, the thing is...if someone else had been there, like I'd been planning, then it probably wouldn't have happened, and the whole thing would've fazed out eventually, sputtering out like a pathetic candle.  But alas no...nobody was there but him and me...and eventually we got to talking about our Situation and what exactly was our Situation? I'm pretty much celibate, is what I said.  By choice, I added.  That probably put him off.  Either he thought I was a freak or he realized that I was indirectly rebuffing, which I actually didn't intend to do....
Did I just reject someone without meaning to?
Probs.
But no.

It all works out in the end anyway...I had a dream that he broke up with me because I was fat, and that would always plague me.  Ha. Ha. Ha.

No More Blue Period, Lakers!

Yesterday I went to the Lakers game against the Memphis Grizzlies, which even today still the commentators on 710ESPN are still talking about.  The Lakers (except for Kobe who was getting pretty p'oed) gave little to no effort whilst they played, which actually caused their fans in the Staples Center arena to boo them! I've never seen that before! The Lakers lost 85-104, by a margin of 19 points, which is not the biggest margin by which they've lost I don't think but it is being called their "most embarrassing win of this season." It was truly, truly dreadful.  Hopefully at their next game, they won't be so dismal.

Dear Lakers,
This is no time to be having a blue period.
Please to start playing better and more like a team that wants that 3-peat.
Thank you.
Sincerely,
Nerd Girl, devoted Lakers fan

Welcome, 2011, to my world.

The morning of 2011 is always extraordinary because my father has a rule...: No being mean to each other.  So my talk-backing lug of an older brother isn't allowed to be a little b*tch to me or else I call him out on it.  Today marks the nine day point before I have to go back to school.  It is today that I really don't want to go back.  I don't care that I spend most of my time laying in bed sleeping or staring blankly at the ceiling out of boredom....at least my GPA isn't on the line.  It's kind of nice not having any pressure right now.  Not even from the summer internship/job front.

Pictures of my New Year's Day will hopefully go up soon if I remember to take them.
